Delta Goodrem – Delta

Following in the footsteps of her heroine, Celine, comes Ms Delta’s third studio album. Lush orchestrations and soaring vocals keep the listener wondering which corner Delta is going to turn next. One minute there is a soulful ballad and then a whip-cracking dance track. This is very evident in the transition from the opening track into In this Life (Track 2), a powerful dance groove that has been achieving ample radio air-play of late. OK, the blonde foils aside, this gal has a great look and can certainly belt out a tune, but I would have liked at least one track pared right back with just voice and cello or simple orchestration… just to trick the ear yet again. Full credit though to her matured writing skills, especially in God Laughs (Track 4) and I Can’t Break It To My Heart (Track 9). The album has enough light and shade and some catchy tunes for it to do well on both the dance charts as well as radio. So on the Kween Meter, this album hit the spot for me!
