The British band were at the front of the new romantic movement in the early 1980’s with hit songs like Planet Earth, Is There Something I Should Know? and The Reflex.

While other bands of their era have come and gone – and come back again, Duran Duran have never broken up. The band has however lost and found members several times. In 1985 the band spit for two side projects. Guitartists Andy Taylor and John Taylor formed The Power Station with vocalist Robert Palmer and former Chic drummer Tony Thompson. While the other members of Duran Duran created the goth styled band Arcadia. In 1986 when Duran Duran reunited for their forth album only John Taylor, Simon LeBon and Nick Rhodes remained.

In the early ’90s drummer Sterling Campbell and Missing Person’s guitarist Warren Cuccurullo were added as official members. Campbell left prior to the band’s 1993 comeback album. The band’s seventh album featured hits Come Undone and Ordinary World.

John Taylor departed during the recording of their ninth album Medazzaland and the band continued as a trio for that release and their tenth album Pop Trash. In 2000 the band annouced that Cuccurullo was departing and the original line up was returning.

In 2003 the band released their eleventh album Astronaut which featured the song Reach Up for the Sunrise – which has become the theme to Channel 7’s breakfast program.

In 2006 while the band were at work on a new album called Reportage Andy Taylor left Duran Duran for a second time and the band decided not to release the album. Instead they started work on a new record working with producer Timbaland and singer Justin Timberlake. The band’s twelth album Red Carpet Massacre was released in 2007.

The tour heading to Australia next year is to support the band’s latest release their thirteenth album All You Need Is Now which was produced by Mark Ronson best known for his collaborations with Amy Winehouse, Robbie Williams and Adele.
