'Euphoria' star Barbie Ferreira hopes her character becomes more queer

Barbie Ferreira, who plays sex positive character Kat Hernandez on TV show Euphoria, says she hopes her character explores her sexuality more in the show’s second season. In a newly published interview Ferreira says she’s always considered the character to be queer.

The TV series has just finished airing on Foxtel, ending with a mysterious final episode that left fans wondering about the future for some of their favourite characters.

The high school drama doesn’t shy away from big topics and innovative storytelling techniques. The show features a diverse cast including transgender character Jules

Euphoria has also been praised ,and criticised, for its frequent male nudity. One locker room scene features 30 penises appearing on screen in quick succession.

Based on an Israeli series, the show has already been green lit for a second season and will be back on our screens in 2020.

In the show Ferreira plays Kat, a girl who loses her virginity and quickly begins exploring her sexuality through hook ups and performing online cam shows.

“I think Kat’s a little queer, but that might be my perspective,” she said in an interview with the New York Times. She also wants her character to make “bad decisions.”

Ferreira also recently shared with OUT magazine in the USA that she identifies as queer, an announcement that sure to get her even more fans.
