The global event aims to mobilise local communities to raise social consciousness about HIV and AIDS. The very first vigil was held in 1983 in San Francisco as a way to bring a community that was being devastated in the early days of the epidemic.

This year’s theme is ‘Ending AIDS Together’, urging communities around the world to reflect on the past and prepare for the future.

The event is open to all and will be held from 6pm at the AIDS Memorial in Robertson Park, on the corner of Fitzgerald and Stuart Streets, Perth.
