LGBTIQA+ football clubs from around Australia will meet in Perth this weekend.
The Pride Football Australia (PFA) Tournament is being held in Western Australia. LGBTQIA+ football clubs, players, coaches and supporters from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth will be in Perth from 2 to 4 October for a weekend of football, community and connection.

The festivities will begin with welcome drinks on Friday night at The Court. Saturday is match day, with several games scheduled.
The action will take place at Challenger Reserve in South Perth. There will be 6-a-side rounds throughout the day. At 10:10am, the PFA Shield Final will be held, featuring an 11-a-side game. Later in the afternoon, at 1:10pm, the Justin Fashanu Cup Final will take place.
Justin Fashanu was an English professional footballer who became the first male professional footballer to publicly come out as gay in 1990. A talented striker, he played for clubs including Norwich City and Nottingham Forest, and was one of the first Black footballers in Britain to command a £1 million transfer fee. Fashanu died by suicide in 1998.
The tournament’s formal presentation is scheduled for 4:10pm, after which participants and supporters will head to a wrap party at the Queens Hotel in Highgate.
On Sunday, participants and supporters will gather for a farewell session at Gage Roads Brewing in Fremantle from 1pm.
The PFA Tournament has run annually for more than a decade in Australia’s eastern states, but this is the first time it has been held in Western Australia.
Tickets to the Welcome Event and the Wrap Up Celebration are on sale now.
