Pride Memories: Shark attack!

Pride2014JPG_19FBWestern Australia’s LGBTIQ community organisation Pride WA is celebrating their 25th anniversary.

The ‘Silver City’ themed PrideFEST began last night and there’s a stack of event running over the next sixteen days. The highlight will be the Pride Parade through the streets of Northbridge in a week’s time.

We asked a bunch of people for their favourite Pride memory. This one is from Greens MLC for the South Metropolitan Region, Lynn MacLaren.

My favourite memory is last years Pride at Parliament, welcoming LGBTI community leaders at the first multi party Pride at Parliament event.

OUTinPerth Editor Graeme Watson said one of his favourite memories of Pride was snapping this image of MacLaren in full shark get-up.

I was taking photos just near The Brass Monkey when Lynn came dancing down the street dressed as a shark. I called out her name, as I had with many people passing by, so I’d get her looking at the camera, but Lynn was so into being a dancing shark she just zoomed pass me.

I had to run down the street, over take her, and snap the pic. I love how much fun Lynn is having in this moment!
