Prince announces surprise Australian tour this month

Prince

The incomparable Prince has surprised two nations this morning, announcing he will be heading to Australia and New Zealand for his brand new ‘Piano & a Microphone’ tour this month.

The tour was scheduled to begin last year in Europe, but was cancelled after the terrorist attacks in Paris.

The iconic artist has previewed some of the tour at a selection of small performances in Minnesota’s Paisley Park, performing with just a piano and a microphone.

Each set has been a curated, unique collection of songs from Prince’s epic back catalogue. Audiences at Paisley Park also reported hearing covers from other icons such as Ray Charles and Joni Mitchell.

Prince’s tweet this morning announcing the tour did not specify which cities and dates he would be visiting, but we can expect to know more soon as the tour launches in February.
