Lil Nas X has returned with his new track World’s Greatest, marking the musician’s first release since a period of personal challenges that drew significant public attention.
The video for the song sees Lil Nas X taking on new challenges and embracing new opportunities while reflecting on moments of resilience throughout his life and career.
The song is dedicated to the singer’s mother, Tamikia Hill, who recently passed away. Both the lyrics and accompanying video highlight the strength and inspiration he drew from her throughout his life. Directed by Philip Youmans, the video was filmed in the singer’s hometown of Atlanta and concludes with a touching voicemail left by his mother, along with a dedication in her memory.
Lil Nas X rose to prominence in 2019 with his breakthrough hit Old Town Road, which blended country and hip hop and became a global success. He followed that achievement with his 2021 album Montero, which featured hits including That’s What I Want, Montero (Call Me By Your Name) and Industry Baby.
In 2025, he released the follow-up album Dream Boy, which did not achieve the same level of commercial success as his debut. However, World’s Greatest signals the beginning of a new chapter for the artist as he returns with deeply personal material inspired by family, loss and perseverance.
