The Vamps: Wild at Heart

The Vamps 2

The Vamps are a UK band currently taking the world by storm. Their album ‘Meet the Vamps’ has been widely popular and features a collaborations with Demi Lovato and Bruno Mars, and that’s just their debut. The boys are currently in Australia promoting their music. When we chatted to guitarist James McVey, he was almost literally on top of the world.

“Right now I’m in the top floor of the hotel by the swimming pool in the sun. This is the highlight of my year so far. The weather is amazing. And the fans, the fans are really friendly.” McVey explains that part of The Vamps’ rise to success is due to their eclectic musical influences. “As a band we have a load of different ones because we’re very sort of different, we like different music. I like country music, I like Taylor Swift and Keith Urban, and Brad likes Arctic Monkeys, The Foo Fighters, 1975 and Tristan likes Blink 182, All Time Low. So we’ve got a lot of different kind of bands that we like and when it merges together that’s kinda what happens with The Vamps’ music.”

For The Vamps, life on the road is sweet, and things are only looking up from here. “We’re a family and we’re the best of friends, it’s not like a manufactured band where we were all thrown together and forced to get on, it was really sort of natural for us. And that’s important I think. We’ve just been given awesome opportunities and the best way to really get the best out of the opportunities we’ve been given is just to really get on, and do the job that we do. Yeah, there are times when we just need our bit of space but on the whole, we always seem to get on no matter where in the world we are.”
