Founder Greg Dear says the event will be changing slightly in 2019 with each singer getting to perform several Bowie songs, plus drag artist Cherry Poppins will be appearing too.

“I have been a devotee of Bowie since I was 12 years old when I heard Starman on the radio.” Dear said of his love of Bowie. ” I investigated the artist who the DJ named simply as Bowie and found out that he was the same guy who did Space Oddity.  I bought the Ziggy Stardust album on cassette, and shortly after Hunky Dory.  That set me on a wild musical journey that I am still following 45 years later.”

Dear said one of the challenges of putting together Mindwarp Pavilion is working out which perform will do which songs.

“Once again, I have enjoyed negotiating with singers about who does which song – always done with our collective love of Bowie in mind. Likewise, with the process of putting the band together,  I love seeing the enthusiasm that they bring to this event.  I also love the fact that there are performers in our town who love Bowie and can actually sing his stuff.”

For this outing electronic musician Kopano will be accompanied by Tanaya Harper on vocals for a rendition of Space Oddity. Plus Clayton Brown and Selina Jayne Paul will be playing too.

Mindwarp Pavilion 3: The Return of the Thin White Duke will be at The Court Hotel on Saturday 5th January 2019. get tickets from Moshtix
