2011 – The Year Ahead

The Pride Committee is hard at work again and is pleased to bring you the PROPOSED dates for our events in the coming year.
We are still waiting for final approval from the various authorities, but these are the dates to put in your diaries – and keep watching the Pride website (www.pridewa.asn.au) for updates as things progress:

Friday 11th March Summer QUIZ NIGHT will be held at the Italian Club;

Monday 28th March PRIDE AGM at Loton Park;

Friday 15th July Winter QUIZ NIGHT will also be held at the Italian Club;

Saturday 8th October FAIRDAY is scheduled at Russell Square;

Saturday 12th November THE PRIDE PARADE is scheduled through the streets of Northbridge;

The WOMEN’S SUNDOWNERS will continue to be held on the second Wednesday of every month at the Universal Bar, Northbridge from 6pm.

As you know these events don’t just happen and our AGM is approaching fast.
This is YOUR OPPORTUNITY to have your say and input into these events.
If you are interested in joining the Pride Committee we are having a planning session for the year on Sunday 6th February from 11am to 5pm. Please contact us at pride@pridewa.asn.au or call us on 6210 1317 if you would like to attend this very important session.

Not everyone wants to be involved with organising the actual events and have talents that are more administrative in nature. WE NEED YOU TOO!! Pride needs people to organise marketing; accounting; minutes; grant applications; web site, email and Facebook; coordinating volunteers and all those other background jobs that are needed to make our events so successful. So if you have a talent in any of these directions please contact us to talk about how you can help.

How much of a commitment is it? That’s up to you, what you want to do and how much you want to be involved. Is it all hard work? No, but there is hard work involved followed by the satisfaction of staging successful events for the community.
What happens if no one volunteers? Then the whole future of Pride is in the air and its value would have to be re-determined. After 21 years we believe it is still as relevant as it always has been – like everything it needs tweaking from time to time to keep up to date with changing generations, but we believe our community would be a poorer place without Pride.
