Stephane Pompougnac: Hello Mademoiselle

Stephane PompougnacStéphane Pompougnac is the musical big shot of the Costes Hotel series of compilations. Working in Paris, he returns with a second personal album. In the credits of this lounge album are Ného, Charles Schillings, Alain Chamfort – who comes to sing on Ungrateful. Linda Lee Hopkins, for her part, comes to pose her voice on two versions of ‘Here’s To You’, one being an acoustic version and the other the original by Joan Baez and Ennio Morricone. As a whole, Hello, Mademoiselle (or Miss, if you please) seem perfect to equip the atmosphere with a romantic air for dinner or between friends. A DJ who has earned his stripes at A-list celebrity parties as well as the international club scene, Mr. Pompougnac always keeps in mind the intimacy between himself and the individual listener: ‘I always think about people. I don’t just think about my music, but if people are happy with it… With my music I have the same crowd everywhere. Different countries, but the same music,’ he told OUTinPerth. The album stirs rap and electro, lounge and house without to losing sight of the shape song. As Stéphane described the album to OiP, ‘It’s a lot of different kinds of music. I tried to be eclectic – lounge, house, hip-hop… I try to write good melodies, not just boom-chuck, boom-chuck.’
