Pride WA recently announced that Pascale Amberville-Colby will step down from his role of Male Co-President. Dean Cahill, a seven year committee member, took Pascale’s place on July 13, 2007.
In a statement on Pride’s website, Pascale Amberville Colby said, ‘Due to professional and work commitments and constant interstate travel I believe that I cannot fulfil all obligations required as male co-president.
‘Pride W.A is a very important part of my life and with the support of my fellow committee members; I will continue to manage my existing portfolios, both as festival convener and sponsorship officer.’
Dean Cahill told OUTinPerth that he felt while his new role would be a challenge, he hopes, ‘with all the guidance I’ve had over the years, I can step into the role and fulfil the vision that Pascale had.’ He continued to say, ‘I will do my very best to assist the community. I went on the committee in 2001 and this is just the extension of my long service.’
Dean’s long service is one he hopes to continue, and he has already said, ‘I’ll be honoured to be back next year. I enjoy what I do. The satisfaction for me is seeing people with friends and having not a care in the world. Yes, there is a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but at the end of it all, it is the satisfaction of seeing people enjoying themselves.’
