Emeli Sandé

There’s been a lot of hype about Emeli Sandé since the release of her debut single Heaven, which came out last year. Nearly six months later and her first album is here. Recently winning the Critics Choice award at the BRITS, Emeli’s album has a lot to answer for. On the first listen you could be forgiven for not being able to tell the tracks apart. Her soulful vocals are reminiscent of Alicia Keys or Leona Lewis as she moves through the album. What’s clear is that she pours herself into every song with thoughtful lyrics and haunting melodies. The album’s a winner for me and I can’t wait to see where this songbird goes. – Ollie Pincott
