COMMUNITY FUNDRAISERS – February

Perth Mardi Gras – Skip the flight to Sydney – head to the Court instead. The Court Hotel will host a Perth Mardi Gras on Sunday, March 2. Tina Cousins will headline on stage, while DJ Seratonin leads a spin session that’s sure to get hearts pumpin’ and booties shakin’. A portion of money raised on the night will go to Pride WA. Tickets are $35, more at the door… if they’re still available, so get on it!

Club West: The Musical Ball – Club West returns to the Italian Club (Fitzgerald St, North Perth) in all its camped up glory! Perth’s gender-bending stage divas deliver a line-up of musical hits that are sure to have everyone singing along. As always, money raised goes towards charity – this year funds will again go to The Bear Care Project, an orphanage in Uganda for children left parentless by HIV/AIDS. In addition, raffle money will go to Pride WA. Tickets are $20 for a seat, $15 for standing – get them at www.clubwest.com.au.

Pride Quiz Night – Quick, what’s the name of the current Prime Minister’s dog? If you don’t know, fear not, there’s still a few weeks to study before Pride’s Quiz Night on Tuesday, March 18 at the Italian Club on Fitzgerald St in North Perth. Doors Open 7.00, Quiz starts 7.45 sharp. Raffles and prizes throughout the night. Tables of 6, 8, or 10 are available, and tickets are $10. To book, phone 0408 097 254. All proceeds to Pride WA. P.S. Love All Music Festival – With more of Perth’s hottest queer DJs than you can swing a racquet at, Love All is a good reason to move your Sunday Sesh to Saturday – Saturday, March 15 from 2-10pm, that is. Connection Nightclub’s Tim Brown, the Court Hotel’s Pussy Shoogah and more light up the courts at Loton Park Tennis Club, on the corner of Bulwer and Lord St. Tickets ($49) and information at www.loveall.com.au. A percentage of money raised will go to Loton Park Tennis Club, Perth’s only gay and lesbian tennis club.

Glamfest Film Festival – From April 10-13, get your fill of same-sex film lovin’ at Astor Cinemas in Mount Lawley. The Glamfest Film Festival will feature 7 queer films with Spinnin’, the winner of the 2007 Barcelona Gay and Lesbian Film Festival Audience Award, the opening night selection.
