Madonna joins Sabrina Carpenter at Coachella

Just hours after surprising fans with the first track of her forthcoming Confessions II album, Madonna has turned up as a surprise guest during Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella Music Festival set.

Crowds went wild as Carpenter’s band started playing the unmistakable sound of Madonna’s 1990 hit Vogue. Madonna appeared on stage and the two singers had a short duet, but they quickly launched in a new previously unheard song.

The appearance came 20 years to the day after Madonna performed at Coachella playing her Confessions on a Dancefloor tunes. Madonna noted she was wearing the same boots and jacket she wore two decades ago.

So 20 years ago today I performed at Coachella,” said Madonna. “I was in the dance tent and it was the first time I performed ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor Pt. 1’ in America, and that was such a thrill for me, so you can imagine what a thrill it is to be back 20 years later in the same boots, with the same corset, the jacket I had on earlier, a Gucci jacket. So it’s like a full circle moment, you know? Very meaningful for me,” Madonna said.

Madonna then sang a snippet of her tune Get Together after speaking about astrology and a desire for everyone to get along. Straight after the pair launched into Madonna’s Like a Prayer and were joined on stage by a gospel choir.

In under 24 hours Madonna’s shared two songs from the forthcoming record which will be available as a standard CD with 12 tracks, but a deluxe edition will also be available featuring 16 tracks.

The new project reunited Madonna with producer Stuart Price who helmed the original Confessions on a Dancefloor album in 2005. Confessions II is slated to be released later this year on July 3.
