Coleen Lamarre to remain in custody over witness tampering accusation

Coleen Lamarre, the mother of accused double murderer Beau Lamarre‑Condon, will remain in custody for at least the next fortnight after being charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The 63‑year‑old was arrested on Wednesday and is accused of attempting to persuade a key witness to change their testimony at her son’s upcoming trial over the alleged murders of television presenter Jesse Baird and his partner, Luke Davies. Coleen Lamarre was previously an employee of New South Wales police, while her son was a serving officer at the time of his alleged offence.

At a court appearance in the Local Court bail division today, her solicitor, Mickaela Mate, requested an expedited bail hearing on Tuesday, asking for a two‑hour session. Judge Lucas Swift said the time request appeared excessive and scheduled her next appearance for 14 May.

Beau Lamarre‑Condon is alleged to have shot Baird and Davies at Baird’s Paddington home in February 2024.

Police allege the 29‑year‑old broke into Baird’s home and shot Baird and Davies with his police‑issued handgun.

It is further alleged that Lamarre‑Condon hid the men’s bodies in the back garden before returning later to move them to a rural location. Lamarre‑Condon and Baird had briefly dated before Baird’s relationship with Davies.

Prior to joining the police force in 2019, Lamarre‑Condon ran a celebrity‑focused blog and was known for tracking down celebrities to be photographed with them. He was dismissed by the Police Commissioner after the murder charges were laid.

Lamarre-Condon’s case will return to court on 29 May.
