Are you a young Western Australian who wants to make a difference for LGBTIQA+ and other communities across the state?
To mark International Youth Day, Minister for Youth Hannah Beazley has announced applications for the Ministerial Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) are now open.
Young people aged 15 – 25 can apply for 12 places among a diverse collective of advisors who will work directly with the Minister to give advice on issues affecting WA youth and shape policies to support those in need.
Successful applicants will serve up to three years as a member of the MYAC, with access to opportunities for leadership experience, advocacy, networking and affecting positive change in our communities.
The announcement has been complemented by the relaunch of the Youth Participation Kit, providing guidance for young people to seek out opportunities to be heard, contribute their ideas and improve outcomes for all Western Australians.
“The Youth Participation Kit is a key action in the Cook Labor Government’s Youth Action Plan, Koorlangka Bidi, to amplify young voices,” Minister Beazley said.
“The Kit will support young people, through practical tools and resources, to feel empowered to participate in the decisions that will affect their lives, communities, and futures.
“I also encourage all young Western Australians passionate about making positive change toapply for my Ministerial Youth Advisory Council to ensure young people have a voice on the issues important to them.”
