La Roux has shared another song from their upcoming fourth album, Old Flames. Lose Myself is the third single released from the new record, following Cabin Fever and Baby Line.
While La Roux started as a duo, since the release of their second album in 2014, it’s been the solo project of Elly Jackson. The new track explores Jackson’s addiction to marijuana following a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and ADHD.
“Lose Myself is me battling between the angel and the devil on my shoulder,” La Roux explained. “The verses are me struggling to kick my addiction and show up for myself, and the choruses are like me wanting to give up on the whole thing and just get lost.
“The song is kind of a fight to try to get me to have enough love and respect for myself to break out of that cycle.”
The clip for the song was directed by Claire Arnold, who has worked across music, fashion and other creative fields.
Old Flames will be released on 6 November.
