Rogue Traders have a great new tune, but when Dirty Dirty Disco begins, rather than the expected vocals of Natalie Bassingthwaighte, the track opens with Dannii Minogue.
Not to worry, Bassingthwaighte makes an appearance by the second verse, and the video featuring the two legends of the dancefloor has some very ABBA-inspired moments.
Rogue Traders is a vibe and energy that I adore and when Nat sent me the track to see if I wanted to collab on it – I was hooked! Gimme some great bass lines and disco vibes and I am in,” Minogue told The Daily Telegraph.
“Nat and I have always connected through the joy of music and had a blast during our X Factor days together. The master plan for this release is fun – everything we do and how we are doing it comes from this intention.”
“I admire Dannii so much, I think there is a real mutual admiration for each other and the work that we’ve done to this point,” Bassingthwaighte said of Dirty Dirty Disco.
“The two of us have stood the test of time, but so has the band. It just feels like magic ready to explode. The day was so much fun, we were just cheeky and playful and we were dirty.”
The electronic rock band first formed in 2002. Their first success came the following year when they scored a hit with One of My Kind, which sampled the INXS hit Need You Tonight.
The band really took off when actor Natalie Bassingthwaighte joined the group in 2005, bringing hits like Voodoo Child, Way to Go, and Watching You.
In 2008, Bassingthwaighte quit the band to focus on her solo career, and Rogue Traders continued with vocalist Mindi Jackson before breaking up a few years later after being dropped by their record label.
In 2015 they reformed with Bassingthwaite back as lead vocalist, but fans have had to wait a long time for new music.
But now they’re back with a vengeance and have released five tracks so far in 2026 in the lead-up to the arrival of their long-awaited fifth album, Midnight Alarms.
