Narelda Jacobs Voices Support For Same Sex Marriage

Channel Ten newsreader Narelda Jacobs has voiced her support for marriage equality stating that she hopes in the future people will look back and find it hard to believe there was a time that gay people could not wed.

In an interview with PerthNow the news reader compared the current marriage debate with the stigmatization her parents faced as an interracial couple decades ago.

Jacobs who is open about her own homosexuality has previously spoken publically about the journey her family has been through to accept her as a lesbian.

During last year’s Pride Festival Jacobs spoke to a group of gay youth at the Freedom Centre and earlier this year she appeared on All Things Queer, RTRFM’s radio program about diverse sexuality and gender.

Catch Narelda on Channel 10’s news from 5pm weekdays.
