I AM ELEVEN (G)

Directed by Genevieve Bailey

Independent filmmaker Genevieve Bailey admits that the idea for I Am Eleven originated when she wanted to get away from things, to travel and make something interesting. She remembers being eleven years of age when the world felt big and everything seemed possible, so her excuse to film in every country she visited was to record what eleven year olds around the world were thinking. Her documentary takes the audience to 15 countries to reveal similarities and differences between the diverse range of cultures. From Melbourne to Morocco these pre-teens give their tips for life and hopes for the future. This ‘global portrait of humanity at a crucial age’ has received many awards and shows what a video camera and a lot of faith can achieve. Genevieve Bailey will be in Perth on Saturday 14 (7pm) July and Sunday 15 July (1.30pm) to discuss her film and filmmaking experiences with audiences at Cinema Paradiso.
