Reinventing Safe Sex Photographic Comp Winner Announced

The winner of this year’s Project X ‘Reinventing Safe Sex’ Photographic Competition held by the WA AIDS Council (WAAC) has been announced. The winning image was entitled ‘Workplace Protection’.

The winner was chosen on Fairday, when members of the public were asked to cast their vote on 19 individual photographs submitted by a total of seven photographers. Approximately 470 people voted on the images, with Workplace Protection emerging the winner.

In a written statement, the photographer, who wished to remain anonymous, told OUTinPerth, ‘The theme for this photograph came from an idea about safety in general. By just showing the boots, the people looking at the photo were encouraged to use their imagination to fill in what the person actually looked like. This triggers the notion of fantasy and safety combined to help us make the right decisions about f**king’

‘Workplace Protection’ will debut at this year’s Pride Parade on October 25th before being used in advertising material by WAAC.
