Tame Impala plays Nevereverland at Belvoir Amphitheatre on December 21.

Getting on the bill? Our label is organizing the festival. It’s their 10 year anniversary, so they’ve slapped us on. It’s standard procedure.

Other Nevereverland acts you want to see? Probably The Presets. I’ve seen them a couple of times and I’m still not tired of them. I love The Presets. The songs they do are pretty awesome and live they’re pretty intoxicating. I’m not a big fan of dance music so for me to get into a dance act is no easy feat, but The Presets do it so well that it’s difficult for me to turn away.

Best festival story? The best festival story I have is from the Wave Rock Weekender earlier this year. We played at it quite early on so we were able to enjoy the whole thing. And it was at Wave Rock and they let people climb up on the rock and it was a really great atmosphere.

Favourite festival? Southbound was one of the better ones I’ve been to, not the one last year, the one the year before, the one with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Neville Staple… I’m aching to get to Meredith in New South Wales. I hear it’s like a proper utopian society. It’s all BYO and people hang out and do what they like.

3 things every punter needs to bring? Swimming shorts, ice [to keep you cold] and thongs.

Dream festival? It would be in Queensland and Dungen from Sweden would headline along with Portishead.
