The Waifs Story? Way back in the day it was me and Vikki, these rock solid young hippie sisters all free and easy just cruising around the country playing music. Then Josh joined the band and he and Vik fell in love… Vik and I drifted further and further apart as the band rose in success. We went to hell and back with each other. Even as far as having fist fights after sound checks… sometimes I think we really gave Oasis a run for their money except that we always made it on to the stage together no matter what… We have loved and hated each other… all of us. After 16 years of being in the band together, I can honestly say that Vik and Josh are now my greatest friends.

Miss most about campervan busking? Lighting a fire and camping in a dried out river bed after a show.

Miss least about campervan busking? Only being able to drive 60kms per hour on the Great Northern Highway loaded up with gear and having massive trucks up our ass honking at us.

Why did you decide to let fans determine your sets on the upcoming tour? We have been in our own world for so long now and are kinda curious what songs our fans really want to hear. I’m expecting Billy Jones and Haircut to make it to the list and to my great horror the ‘worst’ song I have ever written called Smith Street.

Best festival story? We were booked to play a little slot at a huge festival in Lafayette, Louisiana. The headliners were a massive 20 piece band from Africa. At the last minute they had to pull out as they were refused entry into the USA at Customs. The festival was in a mad panic because they needed an international act to headline the festival, so they asked us to do it… We walked onstage to greet a crowd of thousands waiting to African dance all night long… I think we played a 30-minute rendition of Crazy Train because the people really wanted to dance!
