Callout For Gay Dads

A new study into fathers who identify as gay or bisexual aims to examine the many ways families headed by gay fathers have been created, explore how families function, and learn about the relationship between partners.

Despite being headed by University of Virginia graduate student, Samantha Tornello in conjunction with Professor of Psychology, Dr Charlotte J Patterson, the study is hoping to attract participants from all corners of the globe.

Tornello says she wanted to look at gay dads because a lot of the quantitative psychological research on GLBTI parents has focused on lesbian mothers.

‘I plan on publishing the data in peer reviewed psychological journals and hope the information can be used to better inform public policy and the general public about gay dads,’ she told OUTinPerth.

To participate in the study you must identify as male, a father, gay or bisexual and have at least one child of any age. This can be a biological, adopted, foster, step or other child and you do not have to be the child’s legal guardian.

The study consists of an online survey and you can take part by emailing Samantha L Tornello at GayDadsStudy@gmail.com
