Freedom Centre Moves

After over 5 years in the William St premises Freedom Centre is moving onwards, upwards, and around the corner!!

Back in 2004 when Freedom Centre moved into the William St premises they wouldn’t have guessed we could fit over 30 young people at a time in the small space! Hundreds of young visitors and volunteers and 6 Freedom Centre Staff members have seen some wonderful times at 1/471 William St. But thanks to the support of FC’s managers at WAAC, on the 26th October we will be moving on!!

The new centre has lots of improvements on the William St. one. It’s located at 93 Brisbane St., right next door to the Perth Centre for Photography, with an oval over the road and Source Foods cafe a couple of doors down! It’s a massive 180 square metres with one main drop-in space which includes a large, open plan kitchen (what a relief after the cupboard sized ‘kitchenette’ at William St!). It also has two offices and a storage room which will make the FC Staff and volunteers’ work much easier.

Of course, moving from such a small place to such a large space means the centre will be sparsely furnished so we would be very grateful if anyone had any of the following that they were willing to donate; bean bags, couches, kitchen or craft tables, coffee tables, hardy chairs, an entertainment unit or other shelving, a piano or other working instruments, a pool table (hey, we can hope!), a working oven or a large fridge. We will also have more space for other things, of which our supplies are quite depleted, such as; dvds, cds, books, board games, crockery, cutlery, towels, tea towels, cooking utensils, pots, pans, art & craft supplies, dress ups and fabric. Please email Dani on info@freedom.org.au to let us know if you can donate anything.

Want to see the new premises?? Come to the FC Open Day at 93 Brisbane St. on Saturday 31st Oct 1-4pm to check it out and see what we’ve been doing at FC in 2009!!
