yay-2035653The new look Fairday in February provides the opportunity for you to be part of the large ongoing gay/bi men and lesbian/bi women health survey work being undertaken by WA Centre for Health Promotion Research at Curtin University.  Every two years important health information is collected from the community. So make sure you complete a survey this Fairday. You can come to the Curtin Uni stall or find one of the friendly recruiters.

Many of you will have filled these out in previous years. We last ran the survey in 2012 and we achieved nearly 2000 responses. We are looking for similar numbers this year. We would like as many people as possible to fill a survey out this year.

The surveys collect information on sexual health and behaviour as well as some well-being measures and help us understand our community better. This contributes to knowledge on behavioural trends helping to ensure future health promotion and health service programs are well targeted and meet the community’s future needs.

Your survey information is used on a state, national and international level. Our Perth survey contributes to the national picture and for national and international comparisons to be made. This is why it is important that we have a high participation rate and that surveys are filled out as honestly as possible! The more people who complete the survey honestly, the more accurate a picture of the community is.

As these surveys are Perth run and based, the information is analysed and used on a local level. Organisations such as the WA AIDS Council use the information collected to develop programs directly for the Perth community. This information will help us provide the community with resources and programs that the community wants and needs.

Your participation in the survey will benefit our community so please set aside 5 minutes during Fairday to complete a questionnaire. Help us make a difference, and help improve the health of our community.
