Review: Drags Aloud: Mandy and Ca Ca Show

dragsaloudmandyandcaca

Drags Aloud holds the record for the longest running production in the history of Melbourne’s drag industry, and they’re here at Fringe World to entertain us for yet another year. In the intimate setting of DeLuxe in the Pleasure Garden, Amanda Munroe and Jessica James tell us their “story of drag, and trannies and the life that we live”… the show is entertaining to say the least. Perhaps a little passé for seasoned queer audiences, self-proclaimed straight audience members were slapping their thighs and clapping at the ‘shock factor’ throughout the whole show, (A reminder to us that topics that shock mainstream audiences have been done in intimate queer settings for eons). Stand up comedy is interspersed with numbers like ‘I Am What I Am’, and ‘I Will Always Love You’, which are sure to make audiences happy. Audience participation is encouraged, and members are even invited to ask questions in a dedicated ask-and-tell segment. The venue is conveniently located near the pancake shack, get one before the show!
