Amani Consort Can't Stand the Rain

The Amani ConsortWestern Australian funk band Amani Consort show they can deliver the classics by taking on the soul standard ‘I Can’t Stand the Rain’.

Aysha Amani delivers a sultry vocal against a backdrop of funky guitars and pounding drums. Amani also drops a tight rap in the middle of the tune.

The well known tune was originally recorded by Ann Peebles back in 1973. Over the years Tina Turner, Diesel, Seal, Cassandra Wilson and Graham Central Station have all recorded versions of the tune and Missy Elliot sampled it heavily for her debut single back in 1997.
