Wentworth's All New Freak

The FreakFoxtel’s hit series ‘Wentworth’ returns soon, with a new take on one of Australian television’s most iconic characters.

Pamela Rabe will play Prison Governor Joan ‘The Freak’ Ferguson.

In the original ‘Prisoner’ series, upon which ‘Wentworth’ is based, The Freak was played by Maggie Kirkpatrick.

Rabe is one of Australia’s most respected actors appearing in a host of feature films including ‘Paradise Road’, ‘Cosi’ and ‘Sirens’.

Among her many memorable television appearances are roles in ‘Nancy Wake’, ‘The Leaving of Liverpool’ and ‘Mercury’.

The first season of ‘Wentworth’ was Foxtel’s highest rating homegrown product and it’s gone on to be a hit overseas as well. Not only that, the show has been remade in both Germany and The Netherlands.

Wentworth returns to Foxtel’s SoHo Channel on May 20th.
