Sweet Bake-Off 2010: Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on May the 16th was a rip-roaring success, raising over $2,500 for the Gay and Lesbian Community Services to maintain their GLBT telephone counselling lines and award winning training programs. Around 400 people turned out to celebrate.
Putting in a heroic effort at the judge’s table were Channel Ten’s Narelda Jacobs, Spice Magazine Editor Anthony Georgeff, Mark Reid, Aram Hosie and the Court Hotel’s Bree Maddox-Day. After a dedicated afternoon of munching and musing, they pronounced Miriam Gaulton’s stunning White-Rabbit in the Hat Cheshire-Cat creation Best in Show.
Very much appreciated was the huge support shown by sponsors of the event. Cupid’s Delight donated the luscious mudcake that was snapped up by the slice at the Tea Stall, where loose leaf tea donated by Source Food was extremely popular.
Not content with showcasing their own creative talents by taking out the Professional Cupcake Category, My Yummy Vice got the crowd in on the act by hosting the very popular make-your-own Cupcake Corner. Making sure ears didn’t go hungry was our fabulous host, Ms Mabel, and the lovely and talented crooners Bec Daniels and David Gray.
SPICE Magazine, OUTinPerth, Cupids Delight, Animal Rights Advocates Inc, The Home Provedore, The Cooking Professor, Upper Crust Cooking and Catering, Milkd Cafe, Mondo Nougat, Le Chic Hair Studio, Dallimores Homewares, Coode Street Cafe, and Alex Maltby kindly showed their support by donating prizes and gift bag goodies. Bayshore Candidasa resort donated a fantastic holiday in Bali for the grand raffle prize with second prize thanks to WASO. The Court hotel kindly supplied a venue, thanks also to the very helpful Court hotel staff on the day. And lastly, our wonderful team of volunteers including the unfailingly helpful Trish Langdon dedicated their time and effort into making Sweet 2010 a roaring success.
