SOGGY CHIPS!

DAVINCI’S INQUEST (Thurs Apr 26, Nine-1:30am)

This show was an ill-advised attempt to cash in on the success of last year’s film THE DAVINCI CODE only (thanks largely to Captain McAveragepants director Ron Howard) the film wasn’t that great. Still, viewers who watch this version at least won’t have to suffer through two and a half hours of Tom Hanks’ hideous haircut.

MURPHY’S LAW (Fri Apr 27, ABC- 8:30pm)

I have no problems with the show itself, which is a perfectly decent crime drama in which a maverick detective in London’s West End dons disguises to bust criminals. I do, however, have problems with the sad, deluded people who claim that series star James Nesbitt is one of the sexiest men alive. True he has a nice Gaelic brogue, but when you look like the secret Gallagher brother that Oasis have been keeping chained up in their attic and feeding on pigeons, you have no business being in Cleo Magazine’s 50 List.

HOT POTATOES!

UGLY BETTY (Sat Apr 28, Seven- 8:30pm)

Despite the fact that this series is a sweatshop polyester knockoff of the original, silken DEVIL WEARS PRADA, this Streepless gown about a young , ‘character-ful’ (Hollywood speak for ‘ick’) woman who nonetheless becomes a fashionista to rival Morrissey, Tom Ford and Ian Thorpe, is extremely watchable. Pretty Duty falls to hot co-star Eric Mabius, familiar to a gay audience for his role in CRUEL INTENTIONS.
