Christian Groups Set to Rally for Marriage

Unity Australia, an umbrella group for Christian organisations across Australia, is planning a series of nationwide rallies to show support for denying marriage to same sex couples.

The rallies are planned for Sunday September 20th at 2pm, with the Perth rally taking place at the Western end of Langley Park.

The organisation represents a wide range of groups including WA”s Victory Life Church, Australian Christians, Family Voice Australia and a variety of other Christian groups.

Speaking at the Perth rally will be Liberal member for Moore Ian Goodenough, Rev Mike Fawcett, with the Uniting Church, retired Bishop Anthony Nicholls from the Anglican Church, Rev Mike Keating from Australian Christian Churches, Steve Heathcote – a barrister and solicitor representing the Westminster Presbyterian Churches and John Barich from the WA Family Association.

The group has also launched a flag featuring the same design as the French anti-gay group  La Manif Pour Tous’. The design was recently adapted for Russian anti-gay groups use.

FlagSupporting organisation the Christian Federation argues on its website that changing the definition of marriage would have “dire consequences” for Australia

The organisation says that on;y 2.5% of Australians are homosexual and the majority within the gay community do not actively support marriage equality.

In a video on the Unity Australia Facebook page, the group calls on supporters to come out and “make their mark on history” and not to let “a vocal few change your future”.

  1. Quite flattering. They must be finding this tiny little percentage threatening. I note their emblem also disqualifies widows and widowers with kids – and young couples who choose not to have kids, or older people who marry way beyong child bearing years. I hope all their kids turn out gay ha ha ha
