TIM & JEAN @ GOOD VIBES

Tim and Jean (pronounced as in Jean-Paul Gaultier) are Perth’s very own new wave electro darlings. With tracks like Veronica and Come Around tearing up the audio waves, Tim and Jean have played across the country and even headlined last years WA Fashion Awards. Tim took some timeout to speak with OUTinPerth at their upcoming Good Vibrations appearance.

What’s the weirdest festival experience you’ve ever had? The very first festival we did, which was Parklife, we didn’t have any kind of management then and I thought I could have a lot more time than I could, so I went out and went to an after party and I did some strange things with people like Lady Sovereign and the Art vs Science guys, good to meet them, so they were pretty high profile kind of people. I was in the hotel lobby playing on the piano and I don’t remember this but someone told me I ran into the big kind of fountain in the middle of the thing and fell into it so I was drenched in water and someone had to help me out because I was just sitting there with my legs out, it was a weird experience.

What are three things people should bring when they come and see you? I think to bring your dancing shoes – that’s the best thing, it’s all about dancing I think, and having fun. That’s what we wanna come across, the people and the punters, is just to have a bit of fun and dance to the music we play to them. Definitely bring sunscreen and a hat cause it gets hot, especially in the summer, and maybe sunnies. Maybe just tell all the blokes to do a workout before … cause you know they hold their girlfriends on their shoulders, it gets pretty hectic. I see guys really intoxicated out in the crowd and they’re trying to hold their girlfriend up and I can see in their face that they’re gonna let go and you always know when they’re coming down… so just work your shoulders a bit more and you’ll be able to stand that.

If you could be a Transformer and could change into anything what would you change into and what would your secret power be? That’s a really good question I think I’d change into a tree so I didn’t have to do anything and my secret power would be procrastination.
