Presenting by Propel Youth Arts and Carlos Arevalo Photography this free event is on Sunday morning and anyone can take part.

OUTinPerth caught up with Carlos at his North Perth studio to find out what a photography walk involves.

“We go out somewhere and we pick a theme, whether it’s landscape, or portrait or food photography and anyone is welcome to come along.” Carlos said,

“It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a full seasoned pro, or whatever type camera you’ve got, you can be part of it.”

Carlos assured us that it was a welcoming and friendly experience, a place where it didn’t matter if you were gay, straight, bi or trans, or whether you opted for a Cannon or a Nikon.

“Usually we go for about three hours and walk around taking photos.” Carlos said.

The photography professional said he personally enjoyed stepping outside his regular work space and having the experience of just taking photographs for fun.

“I get to teach others what I know about photography, it’s a good way to give back to the community.” Carlos said.

A photography walk is a great way to get out and meet new people, discover parts of the city you might not have noticed before and learn a little bit about photography in a fun setting. Carlos said the main focus of the event was having a really fun time.

The group is meeting at The WA State Library and journey out to do some street photography heading through the city or Northbridge.

The PrideFEST Photography Walk is from 10:00am – 1:00pm on Sunday November 15th. Find out more about Carlos Arevalo’s work at www.carlosarevalo.com
