The relationship between the perception of penis size and body image attitudes is the subject of a new research project being launched by Christopher Fox, a postgraduate student with the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society.
According to Mr Fox, ‘the study will explore the relationship between perception of penis size and body image attitudes and how this affects men,’ adding that, ‘past research has suggested that some men are embarrassed about their genitals and genital size, especially when it comes to issues which relate to their sexual and reproductive health, and understanding this relationship will assist in developing strategies for health promotion campaigns aimed at men’s sexual and reproductive health.’
The survey is for both gay and straight men and the analysis does distinguish between them.Mr Fox told OUTinPerth ‘this is one of the key areas that I need to look at as research has suggested that there is a difference between gay and straight menwhen it comes to body image generally.’
