The first eliminated RuGirl from the show’s sixth season has had a long and successful career outside of the reality program, and has now she may be the first alumna to be considered for an Oscar.

Mantle will be considered for the categories of Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress for her role in the indie film Confessions of a Womanizer which also stars Gary Busey, Andrew Lawrence and Jillian Rose Reed.

Although Mantle has not received an official nomination in either category as yet, director Miguel Ali says he pushed for Mantle to be recognised in both fields.

“To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time in Oscar history that a person will be considered for an acting Oscar in both gender categories,” Ali posted on Facebook.

“I firmly believe that our androgynous/transgendered acting community is the most untapped resource in Hollywood. We need to bring them more attention, and by doing so, we will create more empathy for our androgynous/transgendered brothers and sisters.”
