Spread the word: Jesus is gay

In the latest episode of The Walking Dead the show’s known LGBTI population increased dramatically when regular character Jesus casually shared that he’s not heterosexual.

During a quiet moment chatting with Maggie, Jesus dropped into the conversation that he’s had boyfriends in the past.

“For the first time, I feel like I belong.” Jesus told Maggie, “When I was first here, I was never here. I always found it hard getting close to anyone – neighbours, friends…boyfriends.”

Maggie is very accepting of his subtle declaration and smiles back at him.

Fans of the graphic novels the series is based upon have been wondering if the TV version of the tale would include the characters sexuality.

The show has been criticised in the past for not having any obvious LGBT characters in its first few seasons. Since then a few queer characters have been added, but some have not lasted very long.

Jesus now joins Tara, Aaron and Eric, the show’s other queer characters, but with tensions building between the different communities in the show, and the oppressive Saviors gang – how long they’ll all last is questionable.
