A Night at the Musicals, the collaboration between world famous cabaret performers Le Gateau Chocolat and Jonny Woo has picked up a string of awards, but there really needs to be a specific award created for La Gateau’s facial expressions and dance moves, and another gong awarded for Jonny Woo’s legs.
The premise of the show is simple, two great cabaret performers take you through an irreverent and comical journey through some of the musicals that we all love. Phantom of the Opera, Little Shop of Horrors, Les Miserables, Cabaret, Grease and more than one Disney property.
Jonny Woo does an impressive balancing act while delivering a rousing rendition of Mein Herr from Cabaret. While Le Gateau Choclat will fill your emotions when he tackles Les Miserables. The pair outshine Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickinson when they take on one of the best known songs from Chess and you’ll probably never think of Phantom of the Opera in the same way again.
Le Gateau Chocolat’s previous shows at Fringe World have all been brilliant, and had moments of high camp mixed with profound insights, here there;s just two amazing cabaret stars at the top of their game having a mountain of fun.
You’re guaranteed to leave this Speigeltent feeling good and more than likely singing a few show tunes on your way home.
