The Daniel Susnjar Afro-Peruvian Jazz Group is an award-winning 7-piece ensemble which presents original compositions influenced by Afro-Peruvian rhythms and fresh, unique arrangements of traditional Peruvian folk songs.

Following their first two critically-acclaimed albums, Su Su Nje and Moth to a Flame, Daniel Susnjar is proud to be staging the live launch of Spark in his home state.

The album was recorded in the studio, but with a live audience.

Daniel Susnjar is a multi award-winning Western Australian drummer/composer/producer known internationally for his expertise in the field of Afro-Peruvian Jazz. He has performed and recorded with music legends including Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin, Steve Miller, Pharrell Williams and Dave Grusin, and has toured throughout the USA, Peru, Australia, Asia and the Caribbean Islands.

His drumming can heard throughout the AACTA award-winning 2017 film Whiteley” directed by local filmmaker James Bogle.

The Daniel Susnjar Afro-Peruvian Jazz Group comprises leader Susnjar (drums/compositions), Ricki Malet (trumpet), Luke Minness (saxophone), Harry Mitchell (piano), Jeremy Thomson (guitar), Zac Grafton (bass) and Iain Robbie (percussion).

Susnjar said he was excited about the upcoming album.

“I feel passionate and truly exited about documenting the sound which we have developed together as a unit. Everybody has dedicated so much of themselves towards this project, and I’m thrilled with the results.”

Spark showcases the ensemble in world-class form, performing cutting edge original Afro-Peruvian Jazz music to an in-studio audience.

The album is the next step in Susnjar’s push forward with innovative ways to express artistic sensibilities from the Afro-Peruvian and Jazz musical traditions.

The album launch will be on Thursday 12th April at The Ellington Jazz Club.

Tickets to the luanch can be purchased from The Ellington
