Kaki King returns with her amazing new show

Musician Kaki King is returning to Australia for the first time in five years and she’s bringing her acclaimed new show The Neck Is A Bridge To The Body.

This ground-breaking new multi-media performance uses projection mapping to present the guitar as an ontological tabula rasa in a creation myth unlike any other.  Luminous visions of genesis and death, textures and skins, are cast onto an Ovation Adamas 1581-KK Kaki King Signature 6-String Acoustic guitar customized specifically for this production.

The Neck Is A Bridge To The Body  was produced in collaboration with Glowing Pictures (best known for their work with such artists as Animal Collective, David Byrne & Brian Eno, Beastie Boys, and TV On The Radio).

An album of the same name, featuring the soundtrack from the show, is also available on Spotify, iTunes, and most music retailers and streaming services.

Over the last fourteen years Kaki Kings career has gone from busking in New York subways to travelling the world playing sell out shows. She’s recorded nine albums alongside soundtracks for film, television and documentaries.

The last time King toured Australia she told OUTinPerth that Western Australia was one of her favourite destinations.

“Western Australia is one of my most favourite places ever. Every time I’ve been in Perth I’ve been down to Fremantle, gone to Rottnest Island, got sunburnt, it’s crazy. What can I say; it’s a really special part of the planet.” King said.

Known for her unusual style of guitar playing that combines fret-tapping with slap bass techniques, generating percussive beats, as well as sound layering and looping, the artist attributes her skill and style to decades of experiences and experimenting.

Kaki King will play a show at The Rosemount Hotel on Sunday 12th August, tickets are available from Cool Perth Nights.
