Perth's Sam Perry wins 'The Voice – Australia'

Perth based musician Sam Perry has been named the winner of ‘The Voice – Australia’.

Perry’s inclusion in the competition has been controversial and his technique of looping his own voice to create layers of audio has been questioned, but he’s persevered through every round and been named the winner.

Four contestant’s remained at the start of tonight’s grand final, Perry was competing against teenagers Ayden Calafiore, Bella Paige and Sheldon Riley.

In the final shoe Perry performed Michael Jackson’s They Don’t Care About Us, alongside coach Kelly Rowland, before giving a solo performance of a mash-up of Fatboy Slim’s Praise You and Kanye West’s Stronger.

Ayden Calafiore was the first contestant eliminated off the show, followed soon after by the fabulous Sheldon Riley. The final two contestants were both coached by Kelly Rowland.

Finally after many pauses and fever pitch anticipation Perry was named the winner of the show’s seventh season. HIs new single Trust Myself has been released.
