Troye Sivan and Charli XCX travel back in time

When the artwork for Charli XCX and Troye Sivan’s collaboration 1999 was released last week many wondered why they were dressed as Neo and Trinity from The Matrix.

Now it the odd getup makes sense, the duo’s video for the track sees them recreating key moments of pop culture from the 1990’s.

The Spice Girls, TLC, Titanic, The Backstreet Boys, Eminem, Marilyn Manson, N*Sync, American Beauty and The Sims are all recreated in the video clip.
