Stan Walker

Since winning Australian Idol in 2009, Melbourne musician Stan Walker has been busy making his mark on the Australian music scene.

In just over two years, he has notched up several singles and is about to release his third album, Let The Music Play. His single, Loud has been pumping through the clubs now for months and his album will be worth the wait. The album is balanced between party favourites and slower, more soulful tunes.

At OUTinPerth, we counted eight out of the 15 tracks have definite potential for club hits (excluding Galaxy featuring Jessica Mauboy which has a slower tempo but is still a great tune). The 21 year-old spoke to OUTinPerth about his new album, Let The Music Play.

‘I’m excited. I just can’t wait to get it out. Basically, it’s where I’m at, at the moment. It’s a celebration of my music and where I’m at now,’ he said.

‘It’s just stuff that I like doing.’

Walker said the album took just four weeks to write and record.

‘It was really quick but it was a lot of fun though,’ he said.

As mentioned earlier, Walker joined fellow Idol contender, R&B/pop singer Jessica Mauboy to lay down his track, Galaxy.
‘She’s a good friend of mine and we’ve always wanted to do a song together and this song came up and we both took a hold of it and loved it,’ Walker said.

In September, Walker announced dates to tour with the 22 year-old which have been confirmed.

‘We’re touring in January/February, its called the Galaxy Tour and we’re both doing our own sets and then do some stuff together, so yeah, it’s going to be awesome.’

Let The Music Play is out now.
