Advance Australia launched earlier this week, the new group have been dubbed the conservative answer to GetUp! The new lobby groups promises to promote conservative viewpoints and target marginal electorates in upcoming elections.

The group have announced that one of their focus areas for campaigning will be against the acceptance of “gender fluidity”.

The first signs of the launch of the new group were in a column published by News Corp’s Miranda Devine over the weekend. Devine announced that group would be launching a campaign called “Binary” to tackle what she described as a “epidemic” of transgender youth.

Devine’s article focussed a the number of young people in Western Australia who have sought help for gender dysphoria.

Advance Australia’s newly appointed Executive Director Gerard Benedet (pictured) outlined the groups key priorities in an opinion piece published in the News Corp owned publication The Australian.

Alongside championing freedom of speech, improving the economy and fighting for common sense, Benedet said the organisation was opposed to “radical gender theories.”

“Political correctness is everywhere we turn and little kids are being taught radical gender theories, undermining family values.” he wrote.

Benedet appeared on the Sky News program Outsiders this week and argued against Tasmania’s move to make putting gender on birth certificates optional.
“It’s certainly not mainstream values.” Benedet said of the bill that had passed the state’s lower house, describing it as a “tail wagging the dog” situation.
The organisations leader said “Australians want control back over their destiny.” in his argument for why people must have their gender recorded on their birth certificate.
In relation to the proposed Tasmanian laws the group argues on it’s site that it will lead to a generation of confused youth.
“What level of confusion does this add and what does it say to the child when he or she discovers their parents think their genderless?” the group asks, alongside arguing that without gender being included a birth certificate loses its effectiveness as the nation’s “primary official form of identity”.
So far the group have only listed superannuation and keeping Australia Day on the 26th of January as their campaigns, but it is expected they’ll be launching an assault on people who are transgender and gender diverse in the near future.
