Debate on religious discriminations bill now delayed again until 2019

The government and the Labor party have agreed to delay debate on Labor’s bill on removing protections that allow religious based schools to discriminate against LGBTIQ+ students.

The bill was scheduled to be debated this morning but after the Centre Alliance backed the bill, but insisted on an amendment that Labor sources said would actually increase the ability of schools to discrimination.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison vowed he would remove the current laws after they were highlighted in leaked segments of the Ruddock Report in to religious freedom.

Breaking News: Prime Minister Scott Morrison has now announced he will be introducing his own bill in the lower house to deal with the issue.
