Popular Netflix show Sex Education has been renewed for a second series. The hit TV show has been praised for its inclusion of multiple LGBTI characters and frank discussion about sexuality and relationships.
The show stars Asa Butterfield who plays Otis who teams up with the school’s resident bad girl Maeve, played by Emma McKey, to open an underground sex therapy consultancy for their fellow students.
Otis’s mum Jean is an actual sex therapist who has none of the usual parental hangups, and absolutely no understanding of boundaries. Add to the mix best friend Eric, played by Ncuti Gatwa, who is gay and camp but from a religious family and an assortment of fabulous oddball characters.
Series creator Laurie Nunn said he was excited to be continuing the story of the characters.
“The reception to season one has been so exciting. Seeing how people across the world have connected to characters that began as ideas in my head is incredible.
“I’m hugely grateful to every person that has taken the time to watch the series, and I can’t wait to continue this amazing journey.” Nunn said in a statement.
Season 1 is available on Netflix now.
