Anti-LGBTI+ flyers have been found in letterboxes around the NSW suburbs of Campsie and Hurstville instructing people not to vote for Labor in the upcoming state election.

The flyers – written in English, Chinese and Arabic – warn voters not to vote for Labor “if you do not want your children to become homosexuality”, and “if you do not want the children have 63 genders.”

The documents do not feature information outlining who authorised their printing – which is illegal under the state’s Electorates and Elections Act.

NSW Labor MP Chris Minns told media that he has referred the materials to the NSW Electoral Commission for omitting authorisation information.

“It is obscene, unauthorised and it’s obviously deeply untrue. The cowards have released it at night, in letterboxes. It has always been directed at the Labor Pary and it has always been anonymous,” Minns told 10 daily.

“My sense is that the community in Kogarah won’t fall for these dirty tricks but they do need to be called out otherwise people will continue to abuse the rules.”

The flyers had previously been seen during the national debate ahead of the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey, around the suburbs of Strathfield, Georges River, Bayside and Canterbury-Bankstown.
