Take a look at 'Gentleman Jack' the TV series about Anne Lister

The trailer for the upcoming series Gentleman Jack starring Suranne Jones and Sophie Rundle gives a preview of what we can expect from the drama based around the woman described as the ‘first modern lesbian’.

Rundle is best knowing for playing Ada Shelby in the popular series Peaky Blinders and Alice Sharrow in Jamestown. She previously appeared in The Bodyguard, ShetlandHappy Valley, and The Bletchley Circle. Suranne Jones logged four seasons in as Detective Inspector Rachel Bailey in crime drama Scott & Bailey, before garnering critical acclaim for her leading role in Doctor Foster. 

Together the two will star in the new 8 part series  which will portray the life of  nineteenth century landowner Anne Lister. Jones will play Lister, while Rundle will portray her partner Ann Walker.

The show is based on Lister’s massive volumes of diaries, which were largely written in code to stop people discovering her same-sex escapades. The series is set to air in Australia on Foxtel.
